Twisting Grasses

A little further on and in a drier locale, another spot of crowded earth claims my attention and demands to be photographed. I comply because the twisted grasses and crumpled lichens seem to be momentarily halted in their writhing among the rocks to seek whatever meagre soil there is. The complexity of their wild patterning fills the image with detail, movement and color.

The ground all around is similarly mottled with incident. I have no film for it all - so an imperfect memory, an impression only, will have to suffice. Colors in yellow, green and red against a white-grey background. Minute detail versus grand and atmospheric distance. Dryness and wetness; soft beds of grasses and sharp and broken stones.
