GALLERY
- proposal accepted for show
- hands shaken with Stuart Parker of the printmaking department
about the use of some space in the mall during their show for the period
March 16-30
- 3 large, locking cabinets booked with Illingworth-Kerr
gallery for the period March 16-30
- 4 smaller cabinets booked with Kurt at Jewellery department
for the same period
- discussions with set designer about gallery transformation
into a crypt [Feb 7]
- now have a fairly good picture of what the gallery will
look like [Feb 11]
FOOD
- first twenty individual bowls made in test run
- decision made to make/decorate the individual bowls communally
- bowls thrown communally by 4th year ACAD ceramics majors
and poster made to advertise carvathon [Feb
11]
FLOWERS
- called several flower shops to ask for donations of flowers
for the show. Two were interested in further information. I prepared an
information kit with covering letter for each and delivered them. Nothing
to be expected until after Valentine's Day [Feb 8].
ARTIFACTS
- original carved box fired. Interior not yet lined.
- several carvings of Anglo-Saxon interlace designs made
and pressmolds taken from them
- two carved boxes from interlace pressmolds completed
to leather-hard stage. Drying now! Small box being bisqued [Feb 12]
- meander designs, pressmolds and first test tiles done
for mural frame. Buffstone clay ordered and received for tiles [Feb 11]
- 4 pressmolds each with a set of 5 or 6 leaf related designs
carved and cast in plaster. This will be used to create sprigs. [Feb 12]
- high fire glaze tests done for artifacts
- accepted gift of candle stubs and other left-over wax
from Mabel at my church. This will be melted to make candles for the show
- Other partially burned candles in coloured glass enclosures
loaned to me from the church
- mural subject chosen. It will be Charon, the god who
ferried the dead across the river Styx.
INTERNET SITE
- agreement made with Peter Fung of Advanet Technology
Inc. for the loan of a computer for the duration of the show

EXHIBIT DESIGN
- Attended day-long exhibit design forum at Glenbow Museum.
Good information; good contacts. [Feb 7]
ROBES
- initial measurements taken
- discussion about how clothing should be made begun
- thesis on mediaeval clerical robes [including patterns]
found on microfiche at University of Calgary library [Feb 8]
- a drawing student named Tara thinks she has a theatrical
friend who could get us a pattern [Feb 10].
- phoned several churches, convents and religious orders
for information on patterns. I should be able to visit one of the orders
and see and measure an existing robe if it looks like the one I want
[Feb 10].
THE RITE
- a number of books on the subject of Gregorian chant borrowed
from the University of Calgary library
- contemplation about the rite begun; but nothing recorded
yet
